ROOT CANAL TREATMENT FOR OUR OAKVILLE PATIENTS

North Oakville Dental keeps our practice up-to-date on the best procedures to treat our patients’ dental issues. A very common one is an infection inside the tooth that calls for root canal treatment. Cracks in your teeth, decay, and accidents can expose your teeth to infections. We always strive to save your natural tooth by performing root canal treatment. Inside your root canal is dental pulp, which is soft tissue like the nerves and blood vessels that nourish your teeth. Cracks and cavities allow bacteria to irritate and infect the pulp. The pulp may die eventually, which threatens the health of your whole tooth. If you’re in Oakville and you have an infection, make an appointment with us to save your tooth and resolve the damaged tissue.

THE ROOT CANAL TREATMENT PROCESS

Getting root canal treatment for an infected tooth is a simple process, but one that should always be handled by a trained dental care professional. At North Oakville Dental, we’ve helped countless patients relieve discomfort and get back to their best oral health through this procedure. If you feel anxious or fearful about its past reputation for pain, you needn’t worry. In today’s dental treatments, we use anesthetics and techniques that significantly reduce or eliminate the discomfort that people associate with it. After treatment, over-the-counter pain medication will easily suffice to keep you adequately comfortable while you recover.

WE’VE DESCRIBED THE PROCESS OF ROOT CANAL TREATMENT, SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT:

    • We start by applying an anesthetic to numb the affected area, though it’s not always necessary, and then we drill a small opening in the tooth’s crown to access the inner chamber.
    • Through this opening, we remove all the dead or infected tooth pulp from inside the tooth and then clean out and reshape the root canals.
    • After the inside of your tooth has been cleaned, we fill it with a rubber-like material that prevents any bacteria from getting to your jawbone.
    • We then seal the opening in your tooth’s crown using a filling or covering it with a dental crown. This protects the tooth from further exposure to infection and restores its strength, appearance, and functionality.
    • Once we’ve completed the entire process, you’ll recover and feel relief from the former pain and discomfort. This treatment also helps you to avoid undergoing a tooth replacement in the future that could be costly.
